New place for the Church of Saint John the Warrior
Initially the Church of Saint John the Warrior was build in 1625 closer to the Moskva River. But regular floods inundated all the adjacent buildings including the church. Seeing such destruction Emperor Peter the Great suggested a new place for the church and as they say he even proposed a drawing of a new church.
