Leopoldskron is a rococo palace built in 1736 as a family estate for prince-archbishop of Salzburg - Leopold Anton Eleutherius von Firmian.

The lake terrace of Leopoldskron Palace in 1965 was featured in American musical film The Sound of Music, followed by the popular Broadway musical.

One of the best views of the famous Salzburg's mountain Untersberg is from the park of Leopoldskron Palace overlooking the Leopoldskroner Weiher lake.
