Neptune fountain in the Linderhof Palace
In Roman mythology Neptune (that is Poseidon in Greek mythology) is the god of the seas and water flows. The fountain of Neptune in the Linderhof Palace shows the sea king with the trident in his hand. He is riding by sea on three sea horses accompanied by tritons. In the XVI - XVIII centuries such motive symbolised the monarchy.
