Construction and decoration of the monastery
The main construction and fortification of Novodevichy Monastery were done during the reign of Boris Godunov (walls, loopholes and towers). And the decoration was done by a regent queen Sophia Alekseyevna when a refectory, gateway churches and a very beautiful multilevel bell tower in the modern style of Moscow Baroque were built.
